How Gen Z Sees the World: Will AI Lead to Unemployment?
Release date : March 16, 2024
European Union lawmakers gave final approval to the Euros artificial intelligence (AI) law on Wednesday. This AI act is expected to regulate the fast-developing technology.

Sora, OpenAI's text-to-video artificial intelligence model, recently caused a sensation worldwide, including in the filmmaking sector. Sora can convert text instructions into a minute-long high-definition video. According to OpenAI, Sora can not only generate complex scenes with multiple characters, specific types of movement, precise themes and background details, but also generate animations based on still images to extend existing videos and maintain visual consistency.

While AI has made major breakthroughs, the problems it creates cannot be ignored, such as the recent spread of fake Taylor Swift shopping ads on social media and deepfakes of Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. Siwei Lyu, a computer science professor at the University of Buffalo's Media Forensics Lab, said in an interview with The New York Times that this kind of forgery is likely to have been produced using a text-to-speech service.

To find out what generation Z thinks, CGTN talked with students from around the globe. Some believe it is important to be at the forefront of AI and to use it in creative ways to enhance learning, but they also say AI has the potential to displace certain jobs.
