On March 22, the Workshop on South-South Cooperation and Global Development Initiative and the 27th Annual Meeting of China South-South Cooperation Network （CSSCN） were successfully held in Wuhan, China. The workshop was organized by the Secretariat of CSSCN and jointly supported by China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges (CICETE), UNIDO and UNOSSC.

 

A total of 85 representatives from UN agencies, Government Departments of China, Centers of Excellence, Academic Institutions and more than 40 supporting and member organizations of CSSCN, including UNIDO project-UCSSIC China attended the meeting. Mr. YAO Shenhong, director of UNIDO South-South and Triangle Cooperation Office, led 3-member delegation from UNIDO HQ were present at the meeting. On the occasion, participates were able to share their past working experience in the field of South-South Cooperation, exchange views on the Global Development Initiatives proposed by the government of China, and discuss how to align it with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to further promote South-South and Triangle Cooperation in an extensive and in-depth manner.

 

Mr. YAO Shenhong stressed that the Office of South-South and Triangle Cooperation was established by UNIDO in February 2022, which would make positive contribution in coordinating, building and strengthening partnerships and mobilizing financial and technical resources for UNIDO programmes and projects in the future. He hopes to make full use of the UN system-wide South-South Cooperation Platform and multilateral cooperation mechanism to share China’s experience in industrialization and development with other countries to address such issues like climate change, food security and energy efficiency so as to benefit all the countries around the world, particularly developing countries.
