From 30 July to 2 August 2023, the Digital Technology and Eco-Design Paper Writing Workshop was successfully held at the Wanqu Open University of Design. Under the support of the World Eco-Design Conference (UN Consultative NGO), the workshop was organized by Eco-Design Industry Institute of Guangdong Province and co-organized by the National Eco-Industrial Design Institute, He Xiangning College of Art and Design, Zhongkai University of Agriculture and Engineering, Social Design Branch of China Industrial Design Association and Wanqu Open University of Design.

 

This workshop is mainly aimed at master's and doctoral students, young scholars and professionals in the fields of industrial design, architecture and environmental planning, medical and health, food and other fields under digital technology. Five instructors with rich experience in academic research and paper publication were invited, including Zhang Mengting, Assistant Professor of Macao University of Science and Technology, Zhang Jiaxin, Lecturer of Nanchang University, Dong Hao, Associate Professor of Zhongkai University of Agriculture and Engineering, Yao Yousheng, Associate Professor of Zhongkai University of Agriculture and Engineering, and Xue Mengru, Assistant Professor of Zhejiang University, to focus on digital technology and ecological design research and paper writing, improving the ability and level of young scholars in developing high-level research and publishing high-quality papers in the field of digital technology and ecological design.

 

The workshop attracted more than 30 instructors, master's and doctoral students from 10 universities in Southern China, including South China University of Technology, South China Normal University, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Guangdong University of Finance and Economics, Guangdong Peizheng College and Guangzhou City Construction College. The students were divided into four groups according to digital technology and health, digital technology and environment, digital technology and transportation, and digital technology and Energy. They actively shared their research achievement and practical experience, and had an enthusiastic discussion on how digital technology plays a role in ecological design.

 

During the four-day workshop, the students and their instructors discussed the possibility of the integration of digital technology and ecological design from different perspectives, and completed the achievement report at the closing ceremony. The output of high-quality content in the workshop has greatly benefited the students and provided confidence and motivation for them promote the innovative application of digital technology in ecological design constantly. Students will also continue to improve their achievement of the workshop, and the outstanding papers will be showcased in the 2023 International Symposium on World Ecological Design (ISWED2023) held from 1-3 November 2023 in Guangzhou, China.

 

The successful holding of this workshop has established a sustainable platform for cross-professional, cross-disciplinary and cross-university academic discussions, built a bridge for cooperation and exchanges in the field of digital technology and ecological design, and injected new vitality into the global sustainable development and innovative development of ecological industry.

 

Zhang Mengting Ph.D./Assistant Professor

Dong Hao Ph.D./Associate Professor

Associate Professor at the College of Food Science and Technology, Zhongkai University of Agriculture and Engineering, Ph.D. of South China University of Technology. He has published more than 150 academic papers such as SCI, with a cumulative citation of over 3000 times. Five of these papers have been selected as ESI (the top 1%) and highly cited on the list of High Citation Papers (the top 1%). He was named the Top Peer Reviewer in the field of agricultural science and technology by Publons.
