On September 16, the welcome ceremony for 2022 IDE students was held in Qixin Auditorium, Ningbo Innovation Center, Zhejiang University (ZJUNB). With the desire for knowledge and the courage for exploring, IDE students are heading on their new journey.

 

HU Zhengyu, deputy leader of ZJUNB construction work leading group; HAN Gaorong, deputy leader of ZJUNB construction work leading group, director of ZJUNB; SHAN Shitao, deputy director of ZJUNB; YAO Cheng, executive dean of International School of Design (ISD); heads of departments, teacher representatives, and all 2022 freshmen attended the welcome ceremony.

 

Directors awarded certificates to tutors. Dr. JIANG Hao, was appointed as the tutor of 2022 ISD students, and the appointment letter was presented by Dr. YAO Cheng, executive dean of ISD.

 

 

In Prof. HAN Gaorong’s welcome speech, he pointed out that, in this flourishing but fast-changing age, students are shouldering the new mission, and should become more ideal, innovative, and diligent.

 

Taffere Tesfachew, acting managing director of the United Nations Technology Bank for Least Developed Countries (UN-TBLDC), delivered his welcome address for IDE freshmen through video. In the video, he encouraged all students to cherish the current opportunity; learn from ZJU’s outstanding faculty members, as well as peers from all around the world; and apply the knowledge they learned to provide applicable and sustainable solutions to their homeland.

 

Then, LI Wei, teacher representative; ZHENG Ye, 2021 student representative; GUO Herui, freshmen student representative, respectively gave their speech, and encourage students to aim high and take a good road to study.

 

As the international student representative, Safin Rahman said, mastering life is a brand-new start, which constantly tests students’ ability to dream, to think, to create, to act and to have self-discipline, and requires everyone to aim high, dare to dream, and seize the day.
