“If you visit Zambia, you can follow with your tour guide and walk across South Luangwa where is renown for its diversity of wildlife; You can go hunting in a canoe flows downstream along the beautiful Zambezi River, trace a crocodile or a yawning hippo; You can get close to Victoria Falls to feel its epic momentum...”
On 31 March, the“Friday Laowai Talk”- Edition III of Serial Seminars of Language and Culture along the Belt and Road organized by the International Cooperation and Exchange Office arrived in time. Postgraduate student of the International School of Design, Ningbo Innovation Center, Zhejiang University, Masulani Bokola delivered his thematic report titled “Zambia - A Flying Tercel of Opening Wing”, which presented students a picture full of charming landscapes and cultural customs of Zambia.
Lani introduced how his hometown looks like in his eyes in several aspects of geographic location, tribal culture, tourist spots, historic, political outlooks, economy and so forth. He applied simple yet exquisite power points and vivid and interesting videos to present the characteristic music and dancing of Zambia, as well as its passionate and energetic lifestyle.
While speaking about his folks in hometown migrating in dry seasons, Lani's classmates had felt Zambians’ reverence for Nature and appreciation to the source of life from the vivid interpretation and videos. When people saw the magnificent Victoria Falls, they happened to gasp in admiration.
At the end of the seminar, the students still have not had enough, they raised their hands to ask Lani questions one by one. “Could you please share your film editing skills and what software did you use?” “I really want to know what is happening to the access to education for males and female in Zambia, would you be able to introduce it a bit to us?” Our keynote speaker had responded by giving specific explanation in return to people's passionate response.
In such a relaxed and pleasant time, we again experienced the exotic customs and cultures, as well as make friends with excellent foreigners. It is believed that students can take initiatives to broaden their international perspective, be open to feel the diversity of the world, and improve themselves during rich variety of practices in their future study and living!
