The ISWED2023, hosted by the World Eco-Design Conference (UN Consultative NGO) and organized by the National Eco-Industrial Design Institute, Engineering Research Center of Computer Aided Product Innovation Design of the Ministry of Education, Eco-Design Industry Institute of Guangdong Province and Nanchang University, was successfully held in Guangzhou on December 17th. Focusing on four topics of "Digital Technology and Health", "Digital Technology and Transportation", "Digital Technology and Energy" and "Digital Technology and Environment", it provides a platform for all professionals and researchers from industry and academia to present and discuss recent advances in the field of ecological design. Participants are required to submit a research paper related to the four topics, and leading experts and scholars in the ecological design profession from China, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the United States and other countries will be invited to discuss various topics in depth.
The General Collaboration in the International Design Education (GCIDE) was initiated by the United Nations Technology Bank for the Least Developed Countries (UN Technology Bank), Ningbo Innovation Center, Zhejiang University (ZJUNB), World Eco-Design Conference (UN Consultative NGO) and some relevant domestic and foreign higher education institutes. As a project strongly supported by the GCIDE, ISWED2023 provides a global platform to display and discuss the latest progress in the field of eco-design. We have received a total of 518 papers from 86 universities worldwide, and 125 papers have been pre-accepted. The 125 pre-accepted papers will be submitted to EI Compendex, and some excellent papers will be invited for submission of an extended version to SCI journals. The Symposium will be held annually and will be included in the list of candidates for excellent paper awards selected by the World Eco-Design Conference (UN Consultative NGO), the UN Technology Bank, etc. The GCIDE will also welcome more universities to join.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Ran Wan, Deputy Director-General of the World Eco-Design Conference (UN Consultative NGO), Professor Ping Ye, Deputy President of the National Eco-Industrial Design Institute (EIDI), presented awards to the institutions that won the Award for Excellent Organizational Unit. They are Ningbo Innovation Center, Zhejiang University, Faculty of Humanities and Arts, Macao University of Science and Technology, Architecture & Design College of Nanchang University, School of Art and Design of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, School of Art and Design of Hubei University of Technology, School of Art and Design of Beijing Institute of Fashion University, School of Design of Dalian Minzu University, Hexiangning College of Art and Design of Zhongkai University of Agriculture and Engineering, and School of Art and Design of Wuhan Technology and Business University, Guangdong Industry Polytechnic and Guangzhou City ConstructionCollege.
Four parallel sessions were held for paper presentations of ISWED2023, and Dr. Mengru Xue, Assistant Professor of ZJU-ISD, Dr. Mengting Zhang, Assistant Professor of the Faculty of Humanities and Arts of MUST, Dr. Zhenyu Liu, and Dr. Nan Zhuang served as the academic hosts.
