World Eco-Design Conference (WEDC) is the only consultative status organization in the field of design in China that approved by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (one of the six main bodies of the United Nations), and composed of the Board of Directors, the Secretariat and the Advisory Committee of International Experts.
World Eco-Design Conference (UN Consultative Status NGO) is a world eco-design industry development organization initiated by design organizations, institutions, enterprises and universities in more than 30 countries and regions with the support of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and the United Nations Technology Bank for Least Developed Countries. It aims to promote the integration and sustainable development of design, ecology and society on a global scale, strengthen exchanges and cooperation on ecological design (Eco-Design) among countries and regions, forge a new model of low-carbon city and innovative landscapes featuring brandings, talents, capital and industry, build an innovative ecosystem for eco-design, with virtuous circle for economy, society and environment, and effective enhancement of industrial vitality, and make further contributions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN 2030 Agenda.
The International Eco-Design Outstanding Scientist Achievement Award, launched by the World Eco-Design Conference (UN Consultative Status NGO), stands as one of the most prestigious honors in the field of ecological design. Its purpose is to acknowledge exceptional individuals who have made significant contributions to scientific research and practice.
Ying Fangtian, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of Zhejiang University, Dean of the National Eco-Industrial Design Institute (EIDI), Director of the Computer Aided Product Innovation Design Engineering Center, Ministry of Education, China, member of the Committee on the Teaching of Industrial Design in Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, China, Vice President and Secretary General of China Industrial Design Association (CIDA). He successfully developed a comprehensive theoretical and methodological framework that integrates "art, technology, business, user, culture, and engineering", leading to significant achievements in large-scale industrial applications. Moreover, he has played a pioneering role in advancing the international ecological design industry, actively contributing to the promotion of sustainable development goals. In recognition of Professor Ying's exceptional accomplishments and contributions, the United Nations Technology Bank for Least Developed Countries and the World Eco-Design Conference (UN Consultative Status NGO) presented him with the International Eco-Design Outstanding Scientist Achievement Award in 2021.
