ECOSOC Partnership Forum 2022

Open Call for Side Events 
The 2022 ECOSOC Partnership Forum will be held on 2 February 2022 on the theme “Building back better from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while advancing the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. Multiple actors and stakeholders will participate, including countries, the United Nations system, including international financial institutions, as well as international organizations, parliamentarians, local governments, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, civil society, scientists, academia, women, youth and others. 

 

Participants will debate solutions and policies to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic guided by the SDGs. They are expected to (a) exchange new ideas, expectations and priorities which should be explored further by the Council and the high-level political forum in the following months; and (b) shine the spotlight on forward-looking actions and partnerships by countries and all relevant stakeholders that can help recover from the pandemic and accelerate progress towards the 2030 Agenda.  
 

The Partnership Forum will be held back-to-back with the Council’s new coordination segment that guides and coordinates the work of the UN and ECOSOC system, as decided by the General Assembly (A/RES/75/290A). 
 

Side events may be organized on the margins of the Partnership Forum virtually, and should be related to the main theme of the ECOSOC Partnership Forum.   
 

Side events may be held during the following time slots: 

2 February 2022

08:00 - 09:00 AM (EST, New York time)

13:00 - 15:00 PM (EST, New York time) 
 

Side Event Organizers

Side events can be organized by Member States, UN entities, intergovernmental organizations, NGOs and other organizations in consultative status with ECOSOC. Organizations that are not in consultative status with ECOSOC will need to have a co-sponsor (Member State or UN entity) to organize their side events. 
 

Selection Criteria 

Side events should be clearly aligned with the main Theme of the 2022 ECOSOC Partnership Forum (see above). 

Preference will be given to events that are organized in partnership between two or more entities. 
 

Responsibility of Side Event Organizers 

Side event organizers are responsible for choosing and hosting their virtual event platform and must bear all related costs incurred. The UN Secretariat can unfortunately not provide any technical support for side events. 

Organizers should provide a concept note and registration links to the UN Secretariat by 17 January 2022 at the latest. 

Organizers should provide a half-page summary of the key recommendations and messages within one week of the completion of the side event to the UN Secretariat. 

 

Application Process 

Organizers who are interested in hosting side events are requested to fill in the application form here no later than 5 January 2022 (5PM, EDT). Submissions will be approved on a rolling basis to facilitate partner’s preparation process. All submissions will be reviewed by 10 January 2022.
