The dialogue centered on the "Academician Ying Fangtian Workstation of the European Academy of Engineering," a collaborative platform designed to foster industry-academia-research integration. Discussions focused on advancing Sino-German intelligent manufacturing, synergizing the automotive electronics sector, and promoting technological innovation and international development.
Accompanied by Mr. Wang Zhengzhong, Chairman of Changhui Automotive Electric, and his core management team, Prof. Ying and President Wulff toured the company’s cultural and product exhibition areas, as well as the combination switch production facilities. During the tour, Prof. Ying highlighted WEDO’s core principles of green manufacturing and sustainable development, engaging in on-site exchanges with the German delegation regarding lean production processes in automotive electronics, intelligent control systems, and new energy vehicle (NEV) components.

During the subsequent symposium, Prof. Ying detailed the achievements and strategic roadmap of the Academician Workstation. Co-established by WEDO and Changhui Group, the workstation focuses on frontier fields such as automotive electronics, intelligent connected vehicles, autonomous driving, and NEVs. Guided by the deep integration of industry, academia, and research, the platform is dedicated to technological breakthroughs, standard-setting, talent cultivation, and international resource alignment, aiming to help enterprises overcome critical technological bottlenecks and enhance their independent innovation capabilities.
Prof. Ying emphasized that WEDO, as an organization in consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), has long been committed to driving pragmatic progress in NEVs, technological empowerment, and international cooperation. Leveraging the Academician Workstation, WEDO will further collaborate with GASME and President Wulff’s team to integrate premium resources within the Sino-German automotive industry. Moving forward, WEDO will assist outstanding enterprises like Changhui in connecting with top-tier German technological partners and international market channels. This collaboration will deepen partnerships in intelligent manufacturing, NEV electronics, and core component R&D, fostering mutual benefit and complementary advantages for SMEs in both nations.
Prof. Ying Fangtian delivered a speech at the symposium
Since its inception, the Academician Workstation has served as a vital pillar for Changhui Group’s technological innovation and international expansion. It has successfully completed substantive initiatives, including the optimization of R&D centers, the consolidation of expert resources, the drafting of group standards, and international market promotion.
Looking ahead, WEDO will continue to deepen its strategic partnership with Changhui Group. Capitalizing on the technological expertise and global network of Prof. Ying’s team, and seizing the strategic opportunities of Sino-German industrial cooperation, WEDO will sustain its efforts in core automotive technology R&D, industry standard formulation, international platform integration, and high-level talent development. Through these initiatives, WEDO aims to accelerate technological iteration and product upgrades for enterprises, contributing the power of eco-design to the full-chain synergy of the Sino-German automotive industry and the global transition towards intelligent and electrified mobility.
