WEDO and EAI Launch Strategic Global Cooperation in Academia and Innovation

On 27 April 2026, a delegation from the World Eco-Design Organization (WEDO) visited the headquarters of the European Alliance for Innovation (EAI) in Bratislava, Slovakia. The two organizations held discussions on international academic collaboration, sustainable innovation, and future cooperation in areas related to research, education, and innovation ecosystems.

Drawing on their respective strengths in global academic networks, research collaboration, and international resource coordination, both parties explored potential cooperation in areas including international conference collaboration, academic publishing, young scholar development, and sustainable innovation initiatives. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on establishing cross-regional academic exchange platforms, developing high-level international forums integrating both online and in-person participation, and promoting internationally aligned academic review and collaboration mechanisms. The discussions also highlighted the importance of supporting young researchers and encouraging interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration to facilitate the exchange and application of academic knowledge and innovation.

The meeting reflected a shared commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in areas related to sustainable innovation, education, international cooperation, and inclusive development. Both organizations emphasized the importance of openness, knowledge-sharing, and international collaboration in addressing global challenges and supporting sustainable development.

As an international non-governmental organization with Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), WEDO is committed to promoting eco-design, green innovation, and international cooperation for sustainable development. The organization works with universities, research institutions, industry partners, and international organizations across multiple countries and regions to advance collaborative innovation and sustainable development initiatives.

The EAI is an international platform dedicated to academic and innovation cooperation. Through international conferences, scientific exchange, and academic publishing activities, EAI supports global research collaboration and knowledge-sharing across a wide range of disciplines and emerging technologies.

Looking ahead, both parties will continue advancing the implementation of their strategic cooperation framework and further refine collaborative initiatives and action plans. Guided by a global vision and a shared commitment to sustainable development, the partnership aims to contribute to international academic cooperation, youth development, and cross-disciplinary innovation, while supporting a more connected and sustainable global innovation landscape.
