From October 15 to 17, 2026, the 20th EAI International Conference on Pervasive Computing Technologies for Healthcare (PervasiveHealth 2026) was held at the Prince Jun’s Mansion in Beijing, China. As a supporting organization of the conference, the World Eco-Design Organization (WEDO) contributed to advancing international academic exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration in the field of digital health.
Opening Ceremony
Under the theme “Intelligent, Inclusive and Sustainable Digital Health,” this year’s conference brought together experts and scholars from universities, research institutions, healthcare organizations and industry around the world. Held in a hybrid online and in-person format, the conference featured keynote speeches, thematic paper sessions, joint workshops, poster presentations and prototype demonstrations.
Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on pervasive computing, artificial intelligence, emerging interactive technologies and their innovative applications in healthcare.
Keynote Speeches | From Relational Health and Trustworthy Healthcare to Design Judgment in the AI Era
The conference invited three distinguished speakers from academia and industry to share their perspectives on the future of digital health, addressing health-oriented design, healthcare technology innovation and design practice in the age of artificial intelligence.
Prof. Fangtian Ying Delivers a Keynote Speech
Prof. Fangtian Ying, Director-General of the World Eco-Design Conference and Professor at Zhejiang University, delivered a keynote speech titled “Symbiotic Health: Toward a Relational Paradigm for Health Design.” He proposed that health should not be understood solely in terms of an individual’s physical and psychological well-being, but also through the dynamic relationships between people, technology, society, space and the ecological environment. He called for a broader approach to health design based on relational thinking and systemic collaboration.
Prof. Hui Pan Delivers a Keynote Speech
Prof. Hui Pan, Chair Professor and Head of the Thrust of Computational Media and Arts at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), and Director of the Metaverse and Computational Creativity Center, delivered a keynote titled “Mixed Reality and Generative AI in Healthcare: From Simulation Training to Responsible Care.” Drawing on examples including clinical simulation, intelligent medication support and wearable rehabilitation devices, he explored the potential of mixed reality and generative artificial intelligence in medical training, patient support and responsible healthcare applications.
Mr. Luping Wang Delivers a Keynote Speech
Mr. Luping Wang, Head of the Alibaba Cloud Intelligence Design Center, delivered a keynote titled “Go Vibe Designing: Design Judgment in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.” Drawing on industry practice, he examined how generative AI is reshaping design processes, professional capabilities and approaches to value creation. He emphasized the growing importance of design judgment in human–AI collaboration and intelligent product innovation.
Together, the three keynote speeches offered diverse perspectives from academic research and industry practice, highlighting technological innovation, human-centered design and responsible application as key directions for the future of digital health.
Thematic Paper Sessions | Advancing Research and Innovation in Digital Health
As a core component of PervasiveHealth 2026, the conference featured six thematic paper sessions covering a broad range of topics, including intelligent health monitoring, pervasive sensing and wearable computing, digital mental health, rehabilitation and assistive technologies, health behavior interventions, AI-assisted healthcare and interactive health design.
The sessions showcased cutting-edge research findings and innovative practices from across the digital health community.
Thematic Paper Session
Joint Workshops, Posters and Demonstrations | Fostering Interdisciplinary Exchange and Emerging Research
The joint workshops focused on topics including embodied intelligence for emotional and stress regulation, brain data and AI-driven neuroadaptive interaction, and the long-term maintenance and transfer of healthy behaviors.
Poster presentations and prototype demonstrations provided further opportunities for researchers to share their work through visual presentations, system demonstrations and face-to-face discussions, encouraging exchange and collaboration across disciplines and different stages of research.
Joint Workshop
Conference Networking and Discussion
From formal paper presentations and thematic workshops to posters and prototype demonstrations, the conference offered a diverse academic program spanning theoretical research, technology development, interaction design and practical applications. These activities created opportunities for researchers from different disciplinary backgrounds and stages of study to exchange ideas and inspire new directions for collaboration.
Looking Ahead | Advancing Intelligent, Inclusive and Sustainable Digital Health Innovation
PervasiveHealth 2026 provided an international platform for experts and scholars in digital health to exchange ideas and explore new opportunities for collaboration, strengthening interdisciplinary dialogue across computing technologies, healthcare and interaction design.
Marking the 20th anniversary of PervasiveHealth, this year’s conference highlighted the latest developments in pervasive computing, artificial intelligence, mixed reality and wearable technologies for healthcare. It also underscored the growing importance of human-centered, inclusive and sustainable approaches in shaping the future of digital health innovation.
