The First World Eco-Design Conference (WEDC) is scheduled to be held from December 13th to 15th in Conghua Eco-Design Town, Guangzhou, China. And the conference will set the permanent site of WEDC in Eco-Design Town.

 

Today, the prelude of the opening ceremony, namely the Eco-Design Leading Talent Training Program, was officially started in Eco-Design Town.
 

Pan Yunhe, Academician and Former Executive Vice President of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Gao Yuyue, Deputy Secretary General of Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government, Wang Zhen, Chief of United Nations Industrial Development Organization Regional Division of Asian-Pacific, Yang Dongwei, Director of Development Division of Industrial Policy Division of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China, Ralf Bredel, Representative and Head of UNIDO Regional Office, Liu Ning, President of China Industrial Design Association, Ying Fangtian, Vice President and Secretary General of China Industrial Design Association, Zhuang Yuequn, Wang Jianhong, Hu Dekai, Mao Songbai, Leaders of Conghua District attended the opening ceremony.

Under the theme of “Globalization of Design”, Pan Yunhe, Academician and Former Executive Vice-President of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Mr. Yangdongwei, the Director of The Department of Industrial Policy of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China, Mr. Wang Zhen, Chief of United Nations Industrial Development Organization Regional Division of Asian-Pacific, were invited to deliver lectures in the morning.
 

What’s the story behind United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) ?
 

Founded in 1966, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is a specialized agency that promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization and environmental sustainability. The mission of UNIDO is to promote and accelerate Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development (ISID) in developing countries and economies in transition.
 

What’s the main content of this program?
 

Cultivate Leaders in Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship with an International Outlook.
 

How to replace the traditional competitive edge with innovation remains a heated topic for modern enterprises. However, if you want to be a winner in the market for a long time, only product or service innovation is far from enough.
 

With focus on “How Design Can Innovate”, the first Eco-Design Leading Talent Training Program helps the participants to make innovation breakthrough on the basis of “design thinking”, which has already go beyond the pure products or services themself.

As the representative of the participants, Phork Sovanrith, Secretary of State of Ministry of Industry and Handicraft of Cambodia delivers a speech in the opening ceremony. He said that the program can help different countries to learn more and get a better understanding of each other’s way of green production, which would have a positive influence in their industrial reform, R&D optimization and green industry development. 

Pan Yunhe, Academician and Former Executive Vice-President of Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered a lecture with the theme of Green Design in Chinese Cities. He divided his lecture into three parts: Green Design in Urban Transportation, Green Design in Urban Environment and Integration of Green Development and Smart Intelligence into Urbanization, explaining how to cope with various diseases brought by industrialization and urbanization and develop green design in the city.
 

UNIDO Eco-Design Training Program will last till December 17th. During the program, the participants will also attend the opening ceremony of World Eco-Design Conference, TIA Awards Ceremony, World Eco-Design Industry Development Conghua Initiative, Sino-Swiss Low Carbon City Industry Cooperation Forum, Night of Eco-Design, Conghua Humanity Ecological Visit, Rural Revitalization Visit, theme lecture, panel discussion and MoU release.
