Recently, the 8th Culture and Tourism Integration and Innovation Forum, organized by the Xinhuanet, was held in Zhangye, Gansu Province. In the selection of the official blockbuster event of the forum - “Thumbs up-2021 New Development in Cultural Tourism”, after comprehensive analysis, publicity and referring to the expert group's opinion, the Eco-Design Town was selected for the “Thumbs up-2021 New Development in Cultural Tourism” list and awarded the “2021 Most Promising Cultural Tourism Project”.

 

It is understood that Xinhuanet’s “Culture and Tourism Integration and Innovation Forum” has been held for seven consecutive sessions since its foundation in 2013. It is an important platform for the culture and tourism sectors to exchange knowledge, condense strength and advance development of innovation. With the theme of "Diversified Culture and Tourism Integration and Re-Empowerment", the 8th Culture and Tourism Integration and Innovation Forum focuses on the new era, new achievements, and looks forward to the new future and new developments.

On the special page of introducing activities of “Thumbs up-2021 New Development in Cultural Tourism”, Xinhuanet posted an article titled “Roof of the Greater Bay Area, the Green Valley, Enjoy the Pleasures of Hot Spring, Forest and Mood”, to introduce and demonstrate the Eco-Design Town comprehensively. The Eco-Design Town is an eco-design industry cluster district built under the background of cooperation on Sino-Swiss Low Carbon Cities Project, and a province-level characteristic town that integrates tourism, culture, leisure, sports, education, industry and rehabilitation.
 

The Leading Position in Eco-Design, the Green Valley at the Roof of Greater Bay Area

Since its construction in 2018, the Eco-Design Town has founded a favourable “design+” ecological chain covering all industries, promoted integrative and functional development of industry, culture, tourism and service, and set a good example of industrial transformation and upgrading for the region.
 

Last month, the Guangdong Research Institute of Eco-Industrial Design, based in the Eco-Design Town, was recognized as national level, which has made it the only state-level institute of industrial design in Guangdong Province, and a number of research achievements and projects have been incubated and put into production. This year, the Eco-Design Town has also won many authoritative awards, including the “Premium Selected Eco Leisure Town of the Greater Bay Area” award, the “2021 China Industry Design Top 100”, and “Top 10 Design Parks”, becoming the backbone force of the industrial integration, upgrading and development of the region.

By the modality of combination of industrial import, conferencing, arts and sports activities, the Eco-Design Town has not only enriched the cultural life of the local villages, but also has driven the upgrading of local tourism, employment and services, promoting the rural revitalization with culture and empowering it with design. It has successfully held over a hundred cultural and art events, such as two World Eco-Design Conferences, Development Forum for Guangdong Sports Industry, RoboRAVE, 2019 Asia-Pacific Forum on Youth Leadership, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, National Conference of Homestay Inn, the 10th Guangdong Governor Cup Industrial Design Competition, Garmin CH50 Off-Road Challenge in Guangzhou, “Night of Ecology”, a country music festival, public art training classes etc., receiving more than 250,000 guests from governments, enterprises, academia, institutes and media. The Eco-Design Town is being built as an industrial leading position of Eco-Design that is a destination for business, travel and living, allowing people who come for job, travel, and settlement to truly embrace the beauty of the Green Valley.

The Eco-Design Town is located in Liuxi Hot Spring Resort, where its forest coverage is up to 70%, and has the air quality of Class 1, equivalent to reserves.
