The world is in constant change, with new replacing old. Our world has transformed from a dual physics-human dimension to a triple information-physics-human dimension and to a quadruple information-physics-machine-human dimension. With the rapid development of new technologies such as the Internet, Internet of Things, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, and Metaverse, DESIGN has evolved from “DESIGN 1.0” to “DESIGN 4.0”. Innovation is more than a single dominantly technological breakthrough, but rather a multidimensional conglomeration stemmed from coordinated developments of technology, service, business, strategy, management, design, experience, etc. Facing the challenges of new era and new development, the 2022 International Symposium on Design Education and Industry Innovation brings together interdisciplinary experts and young scholars to share opinions on a wide range of topics, including cross culture, human and intelligent systems, smart education, eco design, to promote design education, design related industry and mutual trust.
