Breaking news! Conghua District is the only district of Guangzhou selected for the 2022 National Rural Revitalization Demonstration Counties!
On 14 October, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) and the National Rural Revitalization Administration (NRRA) announced the notification of the list of the national rural revitalization demonstration counties (county-level cities, districts) in 2022, and agreed 100 units to make the list.
Among them, 4 regions of Guangdong Province are on the list, including Conghua District of Guangzhou!
Since the push to implement the rural revitalization strategy, Conghua District has been always adhering to the general principle of “focusing on rural revitalization is focusing on the jobs of the whole district”, by its endeavour to address clear objectives. As the only listed region of Guangzhou, Conghua District has been an entry on the list of the national rural revitalization demonstration counties. To seize the significant opportunity of the establishment of South China National Botanical Garden by the state government, Conghua takes initiatives to push forward the construction of Conghua Demonstration Garden affiliated to the South China National Botanical Garden, to customize a “name card” for demonstration of biodiversity conservation. Conghua has successfully organized multiple activities on rural revitalization at the State’s ministries, provincial and municipal levels one after another, e.g. the national Clear Water and Green Mountains Forum, rural toilet revolution in Guangdong Province, a symposium on improving the quality of rural toilet retrofitting and construction, advancement meeting on solid waste and waste water management, advancement meeting on Livable and Beautiful Countryside construction in the Pearl River Delta, which highlighted that Conghua takes a significant role in practicing “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets”.

With the excellent progress from a beautiful countryside to a characteristic town, and then to the new countryside demonstration area, Conghua District is committed to building a companionship bond for rural revitalization, it sets goals on the key platform of the implementation of rural revitalization strategy, continues to upgrade the building of rural revitalization. During the 13th Five-Year Plan, Conghua has positively proposed 2 batches of characteristic towns in a total number of 20, including 9 characteristic towns which have been brought into the cultivation pool of the provincial characteristic towns, e.g. the Eco-Design Town, Nanping Meditation Town, Xitang Fairytale Town etc.; While stepping into the 14th Five-Year Plan, the District complies with the thought of “base on dots, draw a line to connect the dots, create a diagram with the lines and connectors, incorporate the diagrams into a whole district”, draws an area to build a new countryside demonstration area of the “A Hundred Miles of Liuxi River” series. The principal axis of the area is set in the Liuxi River ecological corridor, towns and streets are units. It is 35km long along the Liuxi River, starting from the characteristic town. It will be a high ground where puts great efforts to achieve the “Integration of 3 Beauties”, that is beautiful ecology, beautiful economy, and beautiful life, to stimulate the rural revitalization of the surrounding area of the whole district. Among the demonstration areas, the eco-design, Xihe Flowers etc., have been brought into the key buildings of new countryside demonstration areas of Guangzhou Municipality.
