The 2023 Partnership Forum of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) was held on 31 January 2023 at the United Nations headquarters in New York. Under the overall theme of “Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels, the Forum brings together Member States, the UN system and stakeholders from civil society, the private sector, governments and many others to discuss efforts that are driving action on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and to highlight the contributions that partnerships can make in this regard.
In preparation for the 2023 ECOSOC Partnership Forum, a global online stakeholder consultation was held to solicit views, experiences and proposals from all stakeholders. The consultation received over 700 inputs from all sectors and regions of the world – including WEDC’s.
In the process of policy making, the UN shall actively receive and consider the suggestions, research achievements and information on special subjects from the NGOs, which will make the decisions more efficient and comprehensive. Besides, the UN shall also give credit to those who make constructive suggestions by, for example, listing the name of the NGO in a annual report, helping to expand its global influence.
Since it was granted special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council in 2021, the World Eco-Design Conference has been invited to participate in 48 United Nations conferences covering 26 fields such as ecological economy, youth education, digital technology and policy formulation, submitted 6 written inputs and 3 of them was accepted. In addition, the World Eco-Design Conference also held organize the Digital Art and Culture Side Event of the 61st Session of the Commission for Social Development on February 10. In the future, WEDC will also continue to actively participate in international affairs related to the UN, such as attending the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries from March 5 to 9, holding exhibitions and cooperation meetings, so as to better voice for the world's ecological design.
