On the morning of 8 November 2023, a group of six people, led by Kuang Changping, First-level Consultant of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government (Municipal Foreign Affairs Office), Vice Chairman of the Guangzhou People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (GZPAFFC), and President of the Guangzhou Institute for Urban Innovation (GIUI), paid a visit to the Wanqu Open University of Design (WOUD), and held a symposium with President Ying Fangtian, Vice Secretary-general Wang Qiurui, Vice Secretary-general Lou Jiacheng of the World Eco-Design Conference (UN Consultative NGO). Zhou Yongjin, Secretary-general of the GIUI presided over the symposium.
 

The president of GIUI and the president of World Eco-Design Conference (UN Consultative NGO) introduced their work respectively. Both parties expressed their desire to collaborate on international conference events, international educational projects, and academic research, etc. They're willing to support the organization of major events such as the Guangzhou Award, Global Mayors' Forum, and World Eco-Design Conference, while also expanding the General Collaboration on International Design Education (GCIDE), providing more full scholarships for cities awarded the Guangzhou Award, enhancing resource sharing and integration, launching the World Ecological Index and researching new topics, with the shared goal of making contributions in this field.

 

During the symposium, GIUI and World Eco-Design Conference (UN Consultative NGO) jointly signed a MoU on establishing a long-term strategic partnership.

 

This collaboration will further advance innovative solutions for urban sustainable development, promoting the development and practice in the fields of urban planning, ecological design and international education.
