On December 12, 2023, Miss Hu organised a field trip to Guanyi Toys, with all 2022 industrial design engineering students of International School of Design, Zhejiang University.

 

The manger of Guanyi Toys, Leo, first briefly introduced to students with the development history, company culture, primary sales market and product design principles. Then, the students got the chance to freely visit their showroom, and to independently investigate the logic behind their toy design.

 

“I hope you would have more design inspirations after this field trip,” said Mr. Zhou. During the interactive session, managers of Guanyi Toys’ design department also attended, sharing the design concepts, product thinking, etc., as well as addressing students’ questions.

 

Field trips to local Ningbo enterprises could help students better understand the needs of local Ningbo enterprises, and the design and innovation industry. It also enables students to bring real-world market problems into their studies and research, resulting in valuable commercialised and industrialised research outcomes. Finally, it helps to establish a regional innovation system in Ningbo by fostering close collaboration between industry, academia, and research. International School of Design, Zhejiang University, will continue to hold lectures, industrial salons, and on-site enterprise services to support the integration of industry and education, deepen the building of disciplines, and aid in Ningbo’s industrial growth in the future.
