The 2024 International Symposium on Sustainable Fashion Design Engineering (SFDE2024) Successfully Held in Beijing!

The 2024 International Conference on Sustainable Fashion Design Engineering (SFDE2024) was successfully held in Beijing, China, on November 16. Guided by the World Eco-Design Organization (WEDO), the Engineering Research Center of Computer-Aided Product Innovation Design of the Ministry of Education, and the Design Education Committee of the China Association of Higher Education, the conference was organized by Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology. SFDE2024 provided a platform for collaboration and exchange between academia and industry in the global fashion design sector, fostering advancements in theoretical research and practical applications of sustainable fashion design.
Professor Ying Fangtian, Director General of WEDO and Fellow of the European Academy of Engineering, along with Professor Jia Ronglin, Co-Chairman of SFDE2024 and President of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, delivered opening speeches at the conference.
The conference focused on the theme of “Sustainable Fashion Design Engineering”, covering key topics such as “Intelligent Sustainable Fashion Materials and Technology”, “Smart Wearables and Sustainable Design”, “Sustainable Fashion Consumption and Data Analysis” and “Technology Empowerment for Fashion Innovation and Sustainable Development”. The event aimed to explore the multifaceted impact of fashion design on the ecological environment, social progress, and cultural innovation. Nearly 300 submissions were received from renowned universities and research institutions worldwide. After rigorous peer review, over 120 papers were accepted for presentation.

Professor Liu Xin, Deputy Head of the Department of Industrial Design at the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, and Director of the Institute of Ecologicla Design; Mr. Wang Qian, Deputy Director of the BAIC Styling Center and Head of the Interior and Experience Design Department; Mr. Abel Erazo, CEO of Beijing Aiyi Space Design; and Professor Peng Lu, Dean of the School of Fashion Accessory at Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, each delivered keynote speeches.
