Design Museum - Historic Hot Springs Inject New Vitality
Release date : January 20, 2020

Nowadays, people living around Wenquan East Road of Conghua have found some new changes. The Design Museum - Historic Hot Springs Inject New Vitality, which took more than six months to build by planning and revitalizing some old buildings including the Telecommunication Tower, has appeared near the Wanqu Open University of Design.

On 19 January 2020, the Design Museum was officially opened. It is an example of old buildings left unused given new impetus to become the highland of culture and the space for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Conghua Hot Spring Resort is being built into a place where the Red Culture is showcased and eco-economy is developed for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. What an original red aspiration and green energy have been revived with the building of the museum?

The Design Museum is located at No. 37, Wenquan East Road, Hot Spring Town of Conghua District, with total floor area of about 3,000 square meters. It was built by state-owned enterprises and private enterprises working in collaboration. As a modern Chinese-style building, it appears magnificent and elegant and reminiscent of Lingnan’s Ancient Melodies.

In the preface hall, the designer used water elements and a circular giant screen to create a 180-degree semi-immersive space, which makes people feel as if immersed in the soft embrace of the hot spring water. The circular lighting design in the center of the hall looks like a blazing sun and a spring hole, giving the preface hall more beauty.

Origin of the Conghua Hot Spring
Conghua Hot Spring has been a business card for Guangzhou and even Guangdong for a long time. The beautiful mountains and rivers, picturesque scenery, and quiet environment make it become a popular resort. There are numerous mountain flowers in spring, good fruits full branches in summer, red leaves all over the mountains in autumn, and plum blossoms with fragrance in winter. There is the world-famous hot spring water containing radon, the footprints left by the old revolutionaries, the beautiful scrolls left by the literati, and the shooting lenses of many film and television works.

As early as the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Conghua Hot Spring was already a tourist attraction. "Conghua County Annals" in the seven years of Ming Chongzhen (1634) records "Tangquan" and "Baizhang Hot Waterfall", and lists "Baizhang Hot Waterfall" as one of the eight springs in Conghua. Sun Sheng, the Conghua magistrate in the Qing Dynasty, called the hot spring a "Zhen Shu" good land, suitable for relaxation and seclusion. Historical records indicate that Conghua Hot Spring has become famous resort during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and celebrities from other places often visit it.

During the period of the Republic of China, Liu Peiquan, the manager of the Southwest Civil Aviation Company, first discovered the hot spring vapor and “Baizhang Hot Waterfall”, and invited many celebrities to participate in the development of Conghua Hot Spring. By doing so, the world-famous Conghua Hot Spring appeared.

Red Hot Spring

The Conghua Hot Spring has a glorious revolutionary history, from the establishment of the first party branch of Conghua during Anti-Japanese War to the last battle to liberate Guangzhou. After the founding of New China, the state leaders came to care for people’s livelihood from generation to generation.
