Good afternoon! Thank you for coming to the press conference of the First World Ecological Design Conference. Now, I will make a brief introduction to the holding of conference on behalf of the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government.
 

I. About the World Ecological Design Conference
 

With the development of the times and the advancement of science and technology, the“design +” based on the industrial design and integrated with culture, environment, ecology, industrialization of design results, business model, that is, the ecological design has become the development trend of the global design industry and an important engine of economic development. In order to promote the development of the global ecological design industry, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China jointly launched the World Ecological Design Conference integrating with the high-end forum, eco-design brand release, eco-design product display transaction. The First World Ecological Design Conference will be held in Conghua, Guangzhou from December 13 to December 15. The Conference is co-hosted by the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government and the China Industrial Design Association, organized by People's Government of Conghua District, Guangzhou, and co-organized by the design organizations, universities and colleges, institutions and companies in more than 30 countries and regions. The Conference received strong support from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and Guangdong Provincial People's Government. The theme of the first Conference was“The Ecology of Design, the Field of Hope”. At the beginning of August this year, the Industrial Policy Department of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Finance Department of the Ministry of Commerce, United Nations Industrial Development Organization and China Industrial Design Association have successfully held preparatory meeting for the conference in Conghua District, and agreed on the agenda and issues of the formal conference.
 

II. Purpose of the Conference
 

1. To promote the construction of ecological civilization. To provide technical implementation plan and commercial application mode for ecological civilization construction, to realize the"ecological industrialization, industrial ecologicalization", to issue the voice of Guangzhou and build a benchmark in Guangzhou in the aspect of ecological civilization construction, to promote constructing Guangzhou as a global eco-design source and“ecological design capital”, and to contribute to the goals of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development through the ecological design.
 

2. To promote the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy. To promote the targeted revitalization of rural areas, to focus on the development of low-carbon industries concerning greenness, smartness, and design, and to achieve"Harmless nature means endless treasure" at a high level through the industrialization of ecological design.
 

3. To promote the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. One of the achievements of the Conference is to establish Bay Area Open University of Design[l1] , to gather thousands of outstanding global designers, to promote the design innovation and the high-end talent training exchanges of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, to co-construct Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Eco-Industrial Design and Research Institute and other projects, and to create a highland for the ecological design industry in the Bay Area.
 

4. To promote the role of being"two important windows". To show the world the achievements of Guangzhou's reform and opening up through the window of the World Ecological Design Conference, and to let the world observe Guangzhou's great process of continuously deepening reform and opening up and building an international metropolis in the new era through this window.
 

5. To promote the implementation of China-Switzerland Low-carbon City Project. During the Conference, the launching ceremony of the China-Switzerland Low Carbon City Promotion Center will be held to introduce an eco-green low-carbon recycling industry and to promote low-carbon city concepts and technologies.
 

III. Main Contents of the Conference
 

The three-day conference will host a series of events, mainly including:

3. Initiate an Eco-design Conghua Initiative;

Just now, Mr. Gao has elaborated on the purpose and significance of holding the World Ecological Design Conference and the main contents of the Conference. I would like to introduce to you the specific preparations made by Conghua for organizing the Conference
 

Dear reporters, you may be concerned about why the World Ecological Design Conference is settled in Conghua. As the back garden of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Conghua has advantaged conditions. It can be said that Conghua is the ideal place for hosting the World Ecological Design Conference.
 

First, Conghua is rich in ecological resources. As a favored place for producing natural treasures and outstanding people, Conghua is a famous hot spring resort and famous hometown of Litchi in China. It enjoys the good reputation as"The Pearl on the Tropic of Cancer" and"The Back Garden of Guangzhou". Conghua has the forest coverage of 68.9%. The"Mother River" of Guangzhou--Liuxi River passes through the whole territory of Conghua. The Tropic of Cancer passes through it, with warm and humid seasons. The unique subtropical sunshine and temperate rain nourish many famous Chinese and foreign ecological landscapes: Conghua Hot Spring, known as"the first spring in Lingnan", is a world-famous rare radon-containing baking soda hot spring with crystal water, colorless and tasteless, as famous as the Davos Hot Spring in Switzerland; Liuxi River National Forest Park and Shimen National Forest Park have the towering old trees and picturesque scenery. In particular, litchi, longan, clausena lansium and other fruits in the south of the Five Ridges are famous all over the world and are popular both at home and abroad. Conghua's natural ecology has endowed Conghua with four beautiful seasons, peach blossoms in spring, good fruit in summer, red leaves in autumn and cold plum in winter. It is a veritable ecological city. Since the reform and opening up 40 years ago, along with the magnificent process of urbanization in China, the development of Conghua District is also changing with each passing day from the obscure remote town to a modern city suitable for living, industry and tourism. Especially since 2016, in order to speed up the transformation of the green ecological advantages into the advantages of enriching the people and revitalizing the villages, and to accelerate the realization of the development goals of"strong agriculture, beautiful countryside and rich farmers", Conghua District officially launched the planning and construction of characteristic towns. Lianma Town and other towns have achieved good economic and social benefits. The first eco-design town in China built on the basis of the World Ecological Design Conference is another model for the construction of small characteristic towns in Conghua.
 

Second, Conghua has the unique conditions of being"two important windows". In Liangkou Town, where the World Ecological Design Conference will be held, there are other two important projects as Imperial Springs International Forum and Hong Kong Jockey Club. Together with the World Ecological Design Conference, they will constitute an important platform for Conghua District to push forward the reform and opening-up in the new era. Imperial Springs International Forum is an international high-end exchange platform; Hong Kong Jockey Club is a project of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area; and the World Ecological Design Conference is an international high-tech development platform. Mutually echoed, complemented and integrated, the three projects will greatly promote the development of northern Guangzhou.
 

Third, Guangzhou is one of the five cooperative cities of China-Switzerland Low-carbon City Project; as the ecological barrier of Guangzhou, Conghua has the responsibility and ability of creating a model of low-carbon city through the power of ecological design. Moreover, Conghua is located in the hinterland of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and is close to Shenzhen, Dongguan, Foshan and other manufacturing bases with developed industrial design. It has the advantage of integration of ecological and industrial design.
 

Fourth, the conference site of the World Ecological Design Conference is a template of ecology and low carbon. The conference site is rebuilt on the basis of the old comprehensive farmer’s market in Liangkou Town. With no land added, it was completely the activated utilization of waste buildings. The construction of the conference hall has applied the local ecological materials such as bamboo and tiles produced in Conghua and the low-carbon environmental protection technologies such as solar power generation, etc. Combined with the ecological and low-carbon concept, the architectural form is integrated with the surrounding mountains, water, forests, fields and villages. Bay Area Open University of Design and other projects are also rebuilt on the basis of old factories and old schools. The service robots, intelligent balance vehicles, Bio-Light sources and other industries introduced are also green, low-carbon and intelligent ecological industries.
 

At present, under the leadership of the Guangzhou Municipal Government, Conghua District, together with the China Industrial Design Association, is promoting the preparations for the Conference in an orderly manner.
 

The conference site has been completed up to 90%, and is expected to be finished on November 25 for trial operation. The surrounded supporting ecological design roads, Bay Area Open University of Design, the decoration of the exterior facade of the residential buildings and other projects are all under intense construction and expected to be completed by the end of November.
 

The Conference will be prepared in an orderly manner. With the approval of the Conference, the China Light Industry Council has issued the Reply on Approving the"First World Ecological Design Conference" and has conducted a qualification review of foreign guests. The Conference Scheme has been formulated to clarify the target tasks, schedules, specific division of labor, etc. of the Conference. The headquarters of the First World Ecological Design Conference has been established, with seven special working groups. At present, relevant groups have officially started related work. The volunteer recruitment has been initiated. According to the arrangement of the Conference, more than 200 volunteers will be recruited and trained in a unified manner, and registration screening is currently underway. Relevant work such as venue layout, conference publicity, exhibition display, etc. is progressing in an orderly manner. Conghua District has the confidence and ability to run, manage and achieve results in the First World Ecological Design Conference.

Through building the platform of the World Ecological Design Conference, Conghua will become the source center of the world's ecological design, leading the whole country and the world, and become a successful model for the construction of ecological industry civilization to promote the rural revitalization.
 

I. It receives active response in the international industry
 

1. Since the Invitation for International Guests of the First World Ecological Design Conference was officially launched in September 2018, it has been supported by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the World Design Organization, the Bureau of European Design Associations and other international organizations. As of November 2018, important international guests from more than 30 countries and regions around the world have been invited, including leaders and representatives from governments, eco-design organizations, design institutes and related enterprises.

In October 2018, the China Industrial Design Association and the People's Government of Conghua District went to Austria, headquarters of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and held talks with the Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization on supporting the World Ecological Design Conference, preparing for the construction of the International Eco-Design Promotion Center and the Eco-Design Town, actively building an international exchange and cooperation platform, and making exchanges on promoting the ecological design, talent education, circular economy, new progress, new policies and new experiences ofgreen industry worldwide.
 

II. The contents are rich and effective

Relying on the International Eco-Design Promotion Center and based on the Bay Area Open University of Design, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization will organize the Belt and Road Eco-design Leadership Talent Class during the Conference, including nearly 50 United Nations resident representatives from 13 countries in the Asia Pacific region, high-level leaders from various national ministries and senior managers from related enterprises.
 

2. Actively implement the China-Switzerland low-carbon city cooperation project. The People's Government of Conghua District, China Industrial Design Association and Swiss Design Association will sign the China-Switzerland Design Cooperation Agreement during the Conference on co-operation, so as to promote cooperation between China and Switzerland in industrial design and ecological design. The reason for us to establish the Open University of Design is that it is not feasible to make innovation just through subjects. Today is an interdisciplinary, cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary era. Like an iphone, is it made by a designer or IT? Is it electronic circuit? None of them. Today, our traditional education has been in conflict with the development of our ecological industry. Therefore, we urgently need to build an interdisciplinary, cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural platform to gather talents together for new inspiration. How do we operate it? We have set up branches of design education in more than 300 colleges and universities. Most colleges and universities are in this territory, so we need to put the Secretariat of one of China's largest design education branches in our Conghua. Then we will make choice from them. At present, there are eight universities that have reached preliminary agreements, eight of our universities are multi-point to multi-point, such as four excellent universities in China and four overseas universities. They cooperate with each other to pass the 1+1 double masters. That is, one year is spent in Conghua and another one year is spent in Europe. The students can take two master degrees.
 

This is how to cultivate the so-called cross-cultural, interdisciplinary university. There are universities with technologies, for example, Zhejiang University and Eindhoven University of Technology in Europe. In the three-month learning, professors, experts, financiers and investors will participate in. We will have a road show if you have exerted all your abilities; we will make investment if you think it's worth investing; if you cannot do anything, you will be asked to go back or we will ask a teacher to give you a score. So we have completely not challenged the existing higher education system, but also made a useful supplement to the existing higher education system. This is the case. In fact, it is very simple. It should be said to be the choice of the times for the World Ecological Design Conference to permanently settle in Conghua. In April 2016, General Secretary Xi Jinping witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between Guangzhou People's Government and Switzerland Development and Cooperation Agency for the first China-Switzerland Low-carbon City Project. Mayor Wen signed the Agreement on behalf of Guangzhou. This Agreement is to clarify that the important China-Switzerland Low-carbon City Project has been settled in Conghua. I think Switzerland and Guangzhou Municipal Government must have make considerations carefully. Switzerland has a very good experience in developing urban industries with low carbon. Conghua has a very good ecological environment. So combining these two will certainly create the construction of beautiful villages. With the same development as the beautiful industry, this must play a very good role in promoting the development of China and Switzerland and the rural areas. Therefore, the China-Switzerland Low-carbon City Industry has clearly landed here, which is the choice of national strategic projects.
 

Second, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, which is one of the top three great bay areas in the world. It is both the science and technology center and design center. Conghua is also the core area of Conghua District. It is not the marginal city, so I always think it's the core garden instead of the back garden of Greater Bay Area. Since it is the core, we have to do the core things. We want the environment here to be good, the cost of living to be not high, the public order to be good and the water to be good. The water that we Guangzhou people drink is the water in the mainland. The atmosphere is good, and stars can be seen at night. It is very suitable for the designers and scientists to start their business here. Then Conghua is a one-hour innovation circle, which is very close to Shenzhen and Guangzhou. Its industrial chain consists of a one-hour innovation chain including talent flow, information flow and capital flow. So choosing this place is the inevitable choice for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to become the fourth Bay Area in the world. I think this is also Conghua's obligation. So this is the task entrusted to Conghua by the second national strategy of Greater Bay Area.
 

Third, Guangzhou's choice of Conghua is a matter of careful consideration. I think that it is a prudent choice of Guangzhou Municipal Government and People's Government of Conghua District to choose Conghua as a model area for Rural Revitalization in the whole province and even in the whole country. We want to make it as a demonstration area of Rural Revitalization in the whole country. Rural revitalization is not a matter of countryside, but a matter of how to ecologically industrialize and how to ecologize industries. I think that the rural revitalization demonstration area of the third national strategy is the task and choice for Conghua given by the Guangzhou Municipal Government or the people of the whole country. Third, you can find money here. We will issue 10 billion of industrial funds in the first phase. As long as you are talented enough, there are funds waiting for you here. The eco-design industry fund has been established very early. We aim to invest 10 billion yuan of industrial funds as a parent fund to promote innovation and entrepreneurship of these talents.
 

Fourth, this matter is supported by the People's Government of Conghua District. For example, we want to build a new manufacturing base in the Pearl Industrial Park and in many places.
