On August 20, 2019, as a country involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, the Republic of Fiji sent its delegation led by the Minister for Industry, Trade, Tourism, Local Government, Housing and Community Development, Hon. Premila Kumar to visit Conghua for business cooperation, they visits the Eco-Design Town by the invitation from the People’s Government of Conghua District. The delegation is accompanied by the Deputy District Chief of the People’s Government of Conghua District, Xie Zheng, Deputy Head, People’s Government of Conghua District, Guangzhou, Wangwei, Deputy Office Director, People’s Government of Conghua District, Guangzhou, etc.

In the exhibition hall of the World Eco-Design Conference Center, the Minister Hon. Premila Kumar and her delegation have been updated with the construction of the Eco-Design Town in Conghua, introduction of cultural creative industry etc. in particular. The Minister and her delegation have expressed a great interest in the exquisite cultural creative products and the industrial model in the Eco-Design Town.

The cultural creative utensils made by local bamboo and wood wastes in Conghua, a set of smart pen and paper manufactured by an enterprise in partnership with the Town, self-luminous paper made by pure bio-materials... The Minister Hon. Premila Kumar gives credit for the series of industrial achievements of the Town amid the visit, “These product designs are amazing!”
 

It is reported that Fiji has been highly supportive of the Belt and Road Initiative in recent years, and positively exploring cooperation in economic and social areas. The visit schedule of Ms. Kumar and her delegation in Conghua is deployed by centering on the theme of bilateral cooperation in economy and trade, the Consul General and other officials of the Consulate General of the Republic of Fiji in Shanghai are also part of the entourage.
 

Meanwhile, this is also a dynamic attestation that the Eco-Design Town has become a new name card for foreign exchange purpose of Conghua Guangzhou, and even Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macao Greater Bay Area. Along with the successive implementations of international events, e.g. World Eco-Design Conference, 2019RoboRAVE etc., the Eco- Design Town has been unceasingly speaking out on the world stage, forging an ecosystem of design, exploring in the aspects of rural revitalization and global design talent training etc., which provides a demonstration to promote the sharing of successful experience, creative concepts and innovation practices in eco-design among countries and regions in the globe.

Premila Kumar gives a big thumb up to the staff after her field visit in the Eco-Design Town: “Here is the most ecological place that I have ever been, and it is very pure, wonderful and beautiful. The Eco-Design Town has integrated economy, technology and very fine design thinking, which has a very positive leading role in the local economic and cultural developments.”
