The International Design Education and Digital Culture Industry Meeting Successfully Held During the 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5)

The International Design Education and Digital Culture Industry Meeting was successfully hosted by the World Eco-Design Conference (WEDC) at the Qatar National Convention Center on March 7, from 13:00-14:15, Doha time. Taffere Tesfachew, Acting Managing Director of the UN Technology Bank, Wang Qiurui, Vice Secretary-General of the World Eco-Design Conference (WEDC), representatives from Ningbo Innovation Center, Zhejiang University (ZJUNB), Architecture & Design College, Nanchang University and TheOne.art Branch, National Eco-Industrial Design Institute (EIDI) etc attended the meeting.
 
01 International Design Education Multilateral Meeting
Focusing on the International Design Education Program, Taffere Tesfachew, Acting Managing Director of the UN Technology Bank said that the International Design Education Program Report has received positive feedback from the United Nations agencies, the Ministries of Education of the LDCs, international universities and other stakeholders. He confirmed the achievements of the program, and indicated that he would continue to support its implementation.
 
Prof. Luo Shijian, Dean of International School of Design, ZJUNB said that Zhejiang University (ZJU) earnestly implements national policies on international student education, actively builds the brand of Studying in ZJU and vigorously promotes the cultivation of international talents. The outstanding graduates of the Program are working in government departments and institutions, universities and enterprises, playing an active role in promoting friendly communication and cooperation between China and other countries.
 
At last, all participants agreed unanimously to launch the General Collabration in International Design Education (GCIDE), and Taffere Tesfachew, Acting Managing Director of the UN Technology Bank has agreed to be the president. GCIDE will open up program cooperation and welcome more universities, enterprises and institutions to join, so as to provide more educational opportunities and scholarships to students from all over the world, especially the LDCs, and enhance their capacity building.
 
02 Digital Culture Industry Meeting
The Digital Culture Industry Meeting focused on the six key focus areas of the Doha Programme of Action and the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
 
Build an open-source and public welfare Digital Art Technology Repository by the power of science, technology, design and innovation, guide the National Eco-Industrial Design Institute (EIDI) to establish a Digital Art Service Platform, activate classic culture, energize the real economy, and effectively enhance the industrial vitality and life value.
 
Besides, the Artists Committee of the World Eco-Design Conference (UN Consultative NGO) was established at the meeting. It will carry out industry-university-research exchanges and strategic research in the fields of design education, digital technology, culture and art, providing think tanks and sources of innovation for the global sustainable development.
