World Eco-Design Conference and United Nations Technology Bank for Least Developed Countries Established Strategic Cooperative Partnership

Recently, Mr. Ying Fangtian, President of the Organizing Committee of the World Eco-Design Conference (WEDC) and Mr. Joshua Phoho Setipa, Managing Director of UN Technology Bank for the Least Developed Countries (UN Technology Bank) has co-signed the Joint Declaration at an online cooperation meeting. Together, UN Technology Bank and WEDC announced the establishment of strategic cooperative partnership.

“I believe that the World Eco-Design Conference has given a very positive signal to the world, promoting industrial development. In addition, with the expansion of coverage, I am confident that the initiative presented at the World Eco-design Conference can give assistance to more countries, particularly in Africa.” Joshua Phoho Setipa, Managing Director of UN Technology Bank for the Least Developed Countries said in the 2nd World Eco-Design Conference.

This signing marks a new stage in WEDC's cooperation with the UN Technology Bank. We will pool the wisdom and power of the masses, share resources, complement advantages, and achieve win-win benefits, all contributing to advancing sustainable development significantly.
 

“It is a great honor to establish cooperation with the UN Technology Bank, we highly value the bilateral partnership, and we are ready to work with the UN Technology Bank to push forward the construction under Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). We both sides will deepen and enrich the bilateral cooperation on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.” Ying Fangtian, President of the Organizing Committee of the World Eco-Design Conference said. It is also indicated that an initial group of participants from five least developed countries will be supported to undertake training on industrial design and also participate in the Third World Eco-Design Conference in China in December 2020.
 

According to the official report, UN Technology Bank and WEDC will also jointly push forward the settlement of “UN Technology Bank for LDCs Eco-Design Promotion Centre” in Eco-Design Town, support and enhance the industrial design capacity and competitiveness in world's least developed countries. This cooperation has attracted wide attention from the media both at home and abroad.
