Eco-design Town Usher in “Super Brain”, the Second Eco-Design Learning Talent Training Program

The Second World Eco-Design Conference opened in Conghua Eco-Design Town in Guangzhou on December 6th. As part of the conference, in the morning of December 5th, the Second Eco-Design Leading Talent Training Program opened in Eco-Design Town. Nearly 50 delegates from 22 countries, including China, the United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, Bangladesh, Cambodia and Thailand, discussed cutting-edge technology and experiences in digital economy and innovation system.

 

It is reported that this Leading Talent Training Program will lasted until December 9th. During the program, members will attend the Opening Ceremony of the Second World-Eco Design Conference, Entrepreneur Summit and TIA Awards Ceremony, Night of Ecology·Music Festival, Beauty of Ecology·Fashion Gala etc.

From Wanqu Open University of Design to the Eco-Design Leading Talent Training Program, to Eco-Design Promotion Center and the world’s first designers village, the Eco-Design Town has become talent highland of cultivating ecological design talents and expand space for design to energize industrial development.
 

Last December, during the First World Eco-Design Conference, United Nations Industrial Development Organization held the first Eco-Design Leading Talent Training Program in Conghua Eco-design Town and has cultivated 50 ecological design leading talents for countries along the Belt and Road.
 

One year later, the Second Eco-Deign Leading Talent Training Program opened with the topic of “digital economy”. This course will help the trainees to realize innovation breakthrough on the basis of “design thinking” and go beyond the field of technology. It will also help the trainees to purse the balance among the trueness of science and technology, the kindness of humanity and the beauty of art in the perspective of morality, culture, speculation and value. Meanwhile, the course lays equal emphasis on theory and practice, and comprehensively analyzes the application of digital economy in government affairs, economic development and people’s livelihood.
 

During the course, Jaidev Dhavle, Project Associate of Department of Trade of Investment and Innovation of UNIDO, made a speech with the name of UNIDO’s Intervention in E-commerce to Facilitate SMEs Access to National and Global Markets and Assist Countries Transition to the Digital Economy, and talked about UNIDO’s value in policy making, global value integration, intellectual products development and facilitating quality infrastructure facility and standard. He emphasized on UNIDO BRICS E-commerce project and Morocco, Cambodia national partnership project. Yuko Yasunaga presented different aspects of Japan’s digital economy with detailed data in the speech of Development of Japan’s Digital Economy. He also expressed the common idea and goal toward “intellectual factory” of Japanese enterprises like Panasonic and Sony. Wu Yugang delivered the speech of UNIDO Intellectual Manufacturing Project-Digital Design and Simulation and introduced the the understanding about intellectual manufacturing in China and training projects and achievements of UNIDO Shanghai International Intellectual Manufacturing Promotion Center.
 

“The members of this Leading Talent Training Program are elites from UNIDO representative offices in different countries. We hope with this training, we can promote China’s practices and experience in ecological design and make contribution to green, innovative and sustainable development.” Wang Shichun, Chief of Cabinet of UNIDO said.
 

Nowadays, industrial development has reached a new stage, especially the traditional industry which has brought pollution to the environment. “Now we emphasize on inclusive and sustainable industrial development. If there is an innovative approach about ecological design, it is the important contribution to sustainable development.” As Wang Shichun mentioned, ecological design is the source of production and service. It has taken social, economic and environmental influence into consideration. Meanwhile it is significant exploration for the future use of global resources.
 

Adnane Zidane, one of the participants from Tunisia said, after attending the Second World-Eco Design Conference and the Eco-Design Leading Talent Training Program, he learned many related experiences of ecological design talent cultivation and industrial development, which give a boost to increasing productivity, protecting eco-system and producing new products.
 

In line with the Eco-Design Leading Talent Training Program, the Wanqu Open University of Design is also the cradle of high-end ecological design talents. Wanqu Open University of Design is an interdisciplinary, cross-cultural and cross-industry university alliance of innovation and entrepreneurship. Based on the cultivation of master and doctor, the university gathers and shares student and teacher resources of design major from different colleges and builds a platform of talent cultivation to facilitate global design talent exchange, incubate new industry with deep integration of design and high technology and provide service to the research and incubation of digital art industry cluster in the Eco-design Town.
 

In 2019, eleven universities including Eindhoven University of Technology in Netherlands, the University of Nottingham in the UK, Chiang Mai University in Tailand, Zhejiang University and Jiangnan University have formally joined Wanqu Open University of Design to jointly build the talent innovation education center. By the middle of October, this university has recruited more than 100 graduate students, doubling from the number of first year, and is expected to have a total number of 500 in the next two years.
 

In addition, the world’s first designers village has settled in Conghua Eco-Design Town. As a integration platform of industrial resources, designer village will proactively introduce social capital and support development of cultural creativity and design service industry. Therefore, this beautiful village will strongly appeal to design talents and bring impetus to the sustainable development of the village. Meanwhile, designer village will incubate a series of leading companies in emerging cultural industry such as digital publishing and industrial design and attract more social capital. By holding diversified design forum, design summit and competition, the village will an international platform for design cooperation and communication to create a good working and living atmosphere for creative design talents.
 

“Super Brain will support the creative think tank of ecological design.” Ying Fangtian, Vice President and Secretary General of China Industrial Design Association, believes that ecological design system consists of three elements of human, object and brand. These three elements construct diversified human ecology, healthy industry ecology and industry ecology of sustainable development and lay a solid foundation for realizing “ecological industrialization and industrial ecologicalization”.
 

According to the relevant person in charge from Conghua District, with the joint promotion of industrial platform, design talent and industrial ecology, this Eco-design Town, locating in the lush mountains with clean water, has gradually become the global ecological design strategy center, “China’s Capital Ecological Design” and highland of ecological design, innovation and entrepreneurship in Guangdong-Hongkong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It provides powerful driving force for further transformation from lucid waters and lush mountains to invaluable assets and facilitating quality and efficiency improvement of ecological value and innovation.
